If you are injured in a car accident, will the medical payments coverage (MedPay) on your car insurance policy run out before your medical care is completed? If that happens, you will need another source of money to pay for your medical treatment. You might even end up in debt and making payments for a long time.

Doctor billing can be an expensive mistake

You have more than one way of billing your car insurance company for medical care after a car accident. You can submit the bills yourself, your doctor can handle the billing, or your attorney can submit them. Of these choices, doctor billing is usually the most convenient, and you may be tempted to let your doctor handle the billing. Not so fast. When Alex authorized Dr. A. to bill his MedPay account, she charged $155 per visit more than when she billed his health insurance.
